DIY: Loo Bombs

· 196 words · about a minute

These homemade eco friendly toilet cleaners are a bit like bath bombs, but for your toilet.

They're a simple zero waste cleaning product you can make at home. With the kids too if you’re looking for something to do (might even encourage them to help with the cleaning).

This recipe made 7 bombs. I used eucalyptus essential oil but you can use whichever essential oils you already have to hand.

1. Put half a cup of bicarb, 2 tablespoons of citric acid, 1 tablespoon of castile soap and 10 drops of essential oils into a bowl and mix well. It will start going a little fizzy. When mixed, leave it to rest for 5 mins or so.
2. Pack the mixture into an ice cube mould (silicone ones like this one are easiest but you can use a regular type too).
3. The mixture will expand a bit so once it’s all packed in put a chopping board (or something flat and heavy) over the top. Leave to set for 6ish hours, or overnight.
4. Put your bombs in a jar and leave them by the loo. Plop one in when cleaning and let it work it’s fizzy magic.
